Section 2 AA Finals (Section Championship)
Osseo vs. Wayzata
Tuesday Oct. 16, 2001 7 PM @ Wayzata
Definitely a fall night with the low
40's temp some 15 degrees below norm for this date. A clear sky with almost no wind
and a dry artificial turf. This was the Section
Championship where Osseo met defending State Champions Wayzata once again, as they did
just one year ago. This year's game was very close. Mid way through the first half
Wayzata scored the one and only goal of the game on a long arcing header which
slipped almost perfectly between the crossbar and the goalies reach. The
assist came from a long centering kick from the corner. On a
similar effort by Osseo, and header by Alissa Ochs was stopped by Wayzata just as
it reached their goal line. Half time score was 1-0 in favor of
Wayzata. In the final ten minutes of the game Osseo's Katie Meinhardt
fired a shot which was deflected by the Wayzata goalie. Katie then fired
the rebound which bounced off the Wayzata crossbar! Strong efforts by both
teams made for a quality soccer game.
Final score Osseo 0, Wayzata 1
Shots: Osseo 10, Wayzata 13
Corners: Osseo 6, Wayzata 6

Section 2 AA Semi Final
Osseo 2 Armstrong 1
October 13, 2001
A cool damp 52 degree day, wind 1-10 mph, mostly overcast with very light
rain and a few weak rays of sunshine. The field was very wet, slippery and
muddy from .39" of rain which was still misting. All of which, presented a real challenge for
quick ball handling. A shot by Oriole Kayla Phillips 4 minutes into the
contest hit the Falcon crossbar at 36:00. The Falcons later notched the
first goal of the game at 18:31 in the half. Three additional shots on
goal for Osseo still left them trailing the Falcons 1-0 at the half, with both
teams tied for shots on goal at four each. The second half found the Orioles
playing more their game and pressuring the Falcon net. Gina Globa put
Osseo on the scoreboard at 36:20. Three minutes later Jenny Stenson bounced a shot
off the Falcon crossbar. The Orioles kept up the pressure with 5
additional shots on goal, three of which came within seconds of each other
(24:46) resulting in a corner kick, which also failed to find the net.
Then came another shot off an Angie Stenson header and finally the go ahead goal
by Osseo's Alissa Ochs at 16:08! Final score 2-1 Osseo, with Osseo dominating shots
on goal 20-6.

Osseo vs. Park Center
Thursday Oct. 4, 2001
- Parents Night -
A cool clear 47 degree evening was quite a contrast from 80
degrees just two evenings ago.. Fall was definitely in the air as the
Orioles last conference game of the season played out. Both teams played
strong with Osseo averaging slightly better than two for every one of Park
Centers shots on goal, including a blazing shot to the corner by Angie Stenson and another by
Angela Mooney. At the end of the first half the score
remained 0 - 0. Mid way through the second half, Osseo's Katie Meinhardt
found the net at 26:24 on an assist from Gina Globa, making the score 1-0.
Other close shots by Globa (bounced off the crossbar), Angela Mooney and Kat
Krambeer (both crossing just wide) kept Park Center Goalie Rachel Larson on her toes. At
28.6 secs remaining in the game Alissa Ochs netted a rebound off a Kat Krambeer
shot that was deflected by the Park Center goal keeper.
Final Score 2-0 Osseo!

Osseo vs. Maple Grove Tuesday
Oct. 2, 2001
A beautiful balmy 75-80 degrees from a high of 87 with sunshine and a moderate
SW wind.
It was a clash of district rivals, intense but in good
sport. Maple Grove stepped up to the challenge and at the half, led Osseo
1-0 while Osseo just didn't seem to be their normal self. The second half
picked up the pace a bit with a determined Maple Grove adding yet another goal
against the still scoreless, Osseo. That's when things changed, and with
only 17 minutes remaining Osseo began to get it together. The action
really heated up when Kat Krambeer tucked in a shot to the corner at 16:44
igniting an Osseo rally! In the following 10 minutes Osseo racked up near
a dozen shots on goal, bouncing some off the post and stepping up the
pressure! Midfielder Angela Mooney, who has been fielding great passes and
chips for the Orioles all fall, capitalized on a pass from Kat Krambeer and took
the ball to the net for Osseo's second goal at 13:02! Goal number 3 and
the final game winner blazed into the net from the foot of Kat Krambeer
at 8:11 giving Osseo the 3-2 win and a 25-6 edge in shots on goal! The last
12 minutes of play from the Orioles were an outstanding example of the potential
of this team! Way to go Orioles!

Osseo vs. Coon Rapids Thursday Sept 27,
2001
A warm 70 degrees, no wind, clear skies
and sunshine! It doesn't get any better than this!
Osseo opened the contest with pressure on the Cardinal goal right from
the start, as Katherine Krambeer's placed a blazing shot to the upper net.
The Cardinal goalkeeper deflected the shot into the crossbar and Coon Rapids stepped up their
challenge. Both teams played a tough, though
scoreless, first half. Osseo claimed a 1-0 lead at approx 28:00 in the
second half as a determined Kat Krambeer punched in a nice pass from Angie
Stenson to score the first goal of the game. Approx 17 minutes later Coon
Rapids tied the score at 1-1. Osseo midfielders Kat Krambeer, Kayla
Phillips, Angela Mooney, Miranda Pogulis and Beth Thomas met the challenge with
Angela clearing the ball just inches the Oriole goal. The intensity of the game was definitely
picking up! Three minutes later Osseo's Alissa Ochs, picked up an assist
from Kat Krambeer and fired a beautiful left footed shot into the Cardinal goal,
putting Osseo into the lead once again with nine minutes left in the game.
Osseo defense players Briana Anderson, Jenny Stenson, Tiffany Pogulis, Tegan
Moehn, Sandra Holseth and Heather Stueven, along with special effort by
Kat Krambeer, helped sustain the Oriole's lead a 2-1 victory for Osseo!

Osseo vs. Anoka Tuesday Sept. 25, 2001
A cool clear 60 degree evening with a 2 mph wind. The
first
half Osseo dominated, spending most of the half pressuring the
Tornadoes goal. The second half was looking to be a duplicate of the first
until @ 25:24 an unintentional hand ball was called at the edge of the box,
resulting in a PK and a goal for Anoka. Osseo eventually found the net at
12:30 with a nice arching shot by Gina Globa, assisted by Alissa Ochs, which tied the game.
An additional Osseo goal scored by Alissa
Ochs was called back on an off sides call. Played continued and repeated free kicks
were awarded Anoka as the ref whistled on what seemed to be nearly every time
the Orioles advanced toward toward the goal. At three minutes remaining
in regulation Katherine Krambeer setup and fired a shot on the Anoka goal which bounced off the
post. The clock continued to wind down, and with only 4 seconds remaining in regulation
Alissa Ochs closed on the Anoka goal. At less than ten yards from the goal
her breakaway was halted by the whistle, charging she fouled the chasing defender. Regulation time ended with the
score 1-1 and fans expressing concern regarding the inordinate timing and number
of fouls/free kicks
awarded in this relatively tame game. The game was extended for the
required two 5 minute OT periods with neither team scoring. Final Score
1-1 tie.

Osseo vs. Champlin Park September 15, 2001
Our first Saturday game of the season. Skies were broken
with 65 degrees, scattered sunshine and very light winds. Osseo
started the game off with a shot just over the rebel crossbar after just one minute of play. At 31:56 Jenny Stenson
fired another shot, missing
the rebel goal by inches. In the next ten minutes shots from Angie Stenson
(hit the post), Gina Globa (just inches from the upper corner) and Kayla
Phillips all just missed the goals edge. With six minutes left in the half
another shot by Alissa Ochs followed by one each from Kat Krambeer and Beth
Thomas also, just missed the net. Early in the second half the Rebels
rev'd up during an Oriole lull, adding
to their shots on goal, but no scores. The Orioles picked up the pace
again adding more close shots including a terrific closing effort by Kat
Krambeer who dribbled to the Rebel net and was contacted by a rebel defender as
she shot. The ball trickled past the rebel goalie Karli Kopietz and a rebel player
scrambled to cover the ball with her body as the whistle blew, ending regulation
time. Two five minute overtimes yielded close shots by Oriole's Globa and Krambeer,
but no goals.
The Orioles add a 0-0 tie to their record as they hold on at
the top of the NW Suburban Conference play.
Osseo defenders Tegan Moehn, Briana Anderson, Tiffany Pogulis, Jenny Stenson,
Saundra Holseth along with midfielders Angela Mooney, Kayla Phillips and goal
keeper Lindsay LaVoie helped secure the shutout.

Osseo vs. Park Center September 13,
2001
Our first crisp fall evening at 58
degrees and an 8mph wind! The fall jackets were in in full bloom among the
fans, even a scarf was spotted, as we enjoyed another fine night of high school
soccer! The Orioles set the pace pounding the Park Center goal with dozens
of shots before Katherine Krambeer put one in the net at 16:24 in the first
half. A short time later Park Center score their first goal and the half
ended a 1-1 tie. Osseo clearly commanding the shots on goal by a very wide
margin. The second half continued in like manner with Park Center goalie
Rachel Larson making save after save for the Pirates as the Orioles just
couldn't put it in the net. At 18:45 in the second half Angie Stenson hammered a
shot off the crossbar, two minutes later Kat Krambeer's shot bounced hard off the
post and a couple minutes later a solid header by Kat again bounced off
the crossbar. Finally at 2:30 left in the game Angie Stenson slammed in
the winning goal for Osseo to cap off a hard fought 2-1 victory for Osseo!

observed before the game in memory of the lives loss today in the terrorist
attacks on the World Trade Towers and Pentagon.

Osseo vs. Coon Rapids September 6th
Another nice evening for high school soccer.
A light
breeze, broken overcast and 75 degrees. As the game began the sun was still
peaking through clouds, but it set quickly. This game resembled something more like rugby than
soccer with Osseo players having to try avoiding injury as much as trying to
play soccer. Parents, players and fans couldn't help express their disappointment
in the official and his ability to control the game. Astounded by the absence of
fouls or violations called, (no yellow or red cards were issued) Osseo continued
to display good sportsmanship. When the battle was over the results
included injured players, a score of 1-0 in favor of Coon Rapids and many
players, parents and fans shaking their heads and wondering if this game
rivaled, or beat, the most out of control game in their experience.

Osseo vs. Anoka - September 4th
Clear sky, light breezes and 75 degrees! Another gorgeous
night for high school soccer! The 1st half was a steady battle as both

first and only goal after 8 minutes of play. Osseo scored their first goal
a short time later on a shot by forward Katie Meinhardt, who then added another
goal making the score 2-1 Osseo at the half. Forward Alissa Ochs's goal in the
second half made the final score 3-1
Orioles! Osseo continues its season undefeated and is displaying some
excellent returning and new talent on this years team. Forward /
Midfielder Katherine Krambeer again demonstrated her exceptional skills and
speed as she passed and weaved her way to the Anoka goal.

exactly 26:21 in the second half! Katie Meinhardt scored later in the half

Osseo vs. Champlin Park - August 28th
It was a
clear cool evening following an 87 degree high. A very light breeze
was barely sensible. A beautiful evening for soccer! The

formidable Champlin Park team. Angie Stenson scored the Oriole goal
on a penalty shot midway in the second half. When the regular
play clock ran out, the score remained 1-1. The Orioles dominated the play during
the two five minute overtimes. An angled 20 yard kick by Miranda Pogulis bounced off the crossbar
during the first overtime and a corner kicked

their bracket. The tie breaking decision was made on the point differential sending the Kickers to
the championship round. The championship game was played during the cooler morning hours
of Saturday August 4, 2001 during the week of record heat. Most of the players on this team played on the same
